Terry
Took my motorcycle to the mountains last week, got a bubble in the tire. The motel manager in Maggie Valley where I was staying told me I had two choices, I could take my bike to the Indian Shop or to Carolina Cycle. I opted for Carolina Cycle thinking the Indian shop would be a little snooty and overpriced. When I got to Carolina, they charged me $160. for a tire that I could have purchased at Cycle gear for $107.00 I thought about it for a minute and decided to go ahead and purchase it, after all I was on the side of the road with no other transportation to make it home. I do realize Carolina Cycles is a motorcycle shop and not a conglomerate chain. So, I took the new tire and went around to the service counter to get it installed, I laid it on the counter and the service manager tells me to get the tire off his counter and then tells me it will be $40.00 to install, which I thought was high but was willing to pay since I was from Jacksonville, FL and in North Carolina on my motorcycle. The man then tells me I have to leave it and come back to pick it up because he was to busy for me to wait on it. This was on a Tuesday morning at 10am and there was no other customer in the service department or on the sales floor, I was the only person in the building when he told me he was to busy. I told him I was stranded out of town and he still did nothing, so I returned to the parts counter and purchased two tire irons, so I could change it in the parking lot at the motel I was staying at. On the way to the motel I decided to pull into the Indian Shop and told them I didn't want to be a jerk but I had purchased a tire from another shop and wondered if he would change it for me. He said sure, go walk around the showroom and I'll do it right now. He stopped everything he was doing and fixed my tire. Before I could finish my walk around the showroom, he comes out to tell me the tire's ready. He charged me $18.00.
Nice dealership. Service department very knowledgable and capable. They keep it clean and are always busy. It's funny when you read other reviews. People from out of town are always pushy and expect you to drop what your doing to make them fell good. When your not seeing the whole side of it. I've had very good experiences with this shop. I always call ahead for an appointment and for just 2 guys they get it done. Very happy returning customer.
If you make a deal with these folks, I suggest you get it in writing. Better yet, just pass them up and go to another dealer. I did not have my trade with me when I stopped by. Made a deal, checked my credit, everything ready to go except I didn't have my trade with me. They agreed I could bring it in next day and finalize the deal. Called and discussed with the manager on duty that I could not get out of work and would be there the following day. He said he had to back out of the deal as they couldn't take trades. Makes no sense to me. The owner did not care when I spoke with him on the phone. Good luck with these folks.
By the way, the motel I stayed at in Maggie Valley was the Clarketon. The owner/manager was kind enough to loan me his truck so I could go get my tire changed. Great place to stay in Maggie Valley.
VERY FRIENDLY STAFF WITH EXPERT KNOWLEDGE. THEY ARE MY GO TO PLACE FOR ALL MY POWER-SPORT NEEDS.
Very knowledgeable, and helpful. Extensive inventory.
