Plus, as an extra, the camp ground host, Joey, is a super friendly guy that really helped my family out. Our truck broke down after a 5 hour trip about 12 miles from the campground, and it was difficult to find a tow service late Friday evening, so in a last desparation I called Joey to tell him that we would not make it to the campground that night and we planned to just take an Uber with my family to a local hotel. Joey went out of his way, and coordinated a resident camper at his campground to come pick us up and our camper and towed it back to the campground and put the camper in our spot. He also called a friend that had a roll back tow truck and they were able to tow my truck to a local shop that was owned by a local friend of his who also was a mechanic. Due to these actions, he was able to rescue our family vacation and turned what would have been a terrible family experience into a memorable vacation experience that we will never forget!

Very well run and clean campground. Highly recommend it and the area is beautiful with lots of activities and locations to visit

Nice RV park with friendly helpful staff. Be aware this park doesn't have a bathhouse.

After understanding his point of view, I succeeded, apologised to him, and began getting dressed to ride to another location to take a nap.

I like it so well we live here full time.

This is not a campground. You must have an RV or Camper to stay here. I was riding my new motorcycle from IN to SC and almost dozed off twice on I-40 so I figured it would be best for me to take a power nap. I pulled off on the exit, filled up my gas tank at the nearest station, and did a Google Search for campgrounds near my location. Three locations came up from the search. Trails End had the best reviews so I went there (4 miles from the gas station) to take a power nap and keep moving. I arrived, took a short drive through the "campground" (RV Park), saw an open spot and thought about parking my Gold Wing on it and taking a nap on the concrete, but decided against it because it was adjacent to people's RV's and I didn't want to wake them up, as it was midnight. So I rode past the office and didn't see any lights, then I rode over near the entrance and saw an open bench about 100 feet away from the nearest RV. I parked, got out my thermal top and my rain gear (it had rained earlier and the bench was soaked), and began getting dressed to take a nap. That's when a man named Bob approached me from the nearest camper.

This is a great place to camp at and still be close enough to Maggie Valley to ski at Cataloochie. The campground is well maintained, has many extras like 50amp electrical service and full sewer hookup. There is a horse farm and cow farm bordering the camp ground, so if you have young kids that is exciting for them to see and explore. There is a small creek that runs along the border of the camp ground. There is plenty of green grass to walk dogs.

I introduced myself to Bob and shook his hand and he proceeded to tell me that I had to leave immediately and that the police were on their way. I explained my intent to simply take a nap on the bench for a couple hours, and he would not hear me. I then expressed that I was ashamed that he said he called the police on me before even saying a word to me. Actually he didn't call the police yet, he was using it as a tactic to scare me into leaving. Prior to choosing Trails End, I did a Google Search for the nearest rest stop and it was about 20 miles away and I didn't feel like I could make it; also rest stops aren't exactly the safest places to sleep out in the open. I also thought about getting a hotel room but couldn't stomach the cost of it only to sleep for a couple hours, so I chose a camp ground. Google apparently considers an RV Park as a campground. But after interacting with Bob it was clear that there was a big difference. The RV Park is actually similar to an HOA. People live there as their permanent or semi-permanent addresses. It would have been nice if it were posted "no trespassing" or something to that effect, as I would have moved on to another campground near Trails End if they had it posted. Instead, Bob informed me that the police were on their way to remove me. I confronted him about his lack of southern hospitality and his rude attitude, and he explained that he was from Illinois. He then proceeded to take multiple pictures of my motorcycle and my license plate. In my disgust, I told him I'd wait for the police to arrive, at which point he actually called them. As we awaited the police to arrive to forcefully prevent my "malicious" power nap from occurring, Bob explained to me that I could go take a nap at the gas station. Let's see, I saw 2 guys sitting on the sidewalk at the gas station, looking like they had nothing to do but rip somebody off, and Bob thinks that's a safe place for a nap? He then said I could go rent a motel room, and I offered to pay to rent the bench instead for a couple hours. He declined. I then asked for some grace or understanding from him and he gave me none, but rather stated that I could have drugs or other items on my motorcycle and he doesn't want me around there. I was again insulted by his sentiment. Upon learning he was a Christian I stated that Jesus tells us to practice hospitality, and Bob said he didn't have time to talk about The Bible. In an effort to better understand his point of view, I eventually understood the difference between a campground and an RV Park. RV Parks are private, just like a brick and mortar house, or a trailer park. I only wish it were more clearly posted, as that would have helped us avoid this whole situation.
