We left shortly after being seated and went to Birchwood Hall right around the corner. Service was fantastic and the food was exquisite.
We will be back!
The rustic spacious feeling with the high unfinished walls could be too chilly. However on this cool fall evening the space was radiated a warmth that went from the customers to the wait staff & beyond.
Went to dinner here a while back and was greeted by a not so friendly hostess and almost walked out but figured maybe she was just having a bad day. Thankfully the waitress was super sweet so I asked her why did they hire someone to be a hostess who was such a miserable person. She tried to muffle a laugh and said that she hears that often and that the hostess was actually the owner. We went ahead and ordered dinner writing off the whole episode anticipating a nice meal. When our food arrived it was OK at best. The descriptions sounded quite nice but in reality there wasn't much to get excited about. I'm sure there was some seasoning in the recipe, it just seems to not have made it into the dish. Between the miserable hostess who acted like we ruined her day just by walking in and the bland food, I can honestly say that I have not, nor will I ever return.
My wife and I enjoyed another great meal at Frog's Leap last night. After 10 years, they still offer a unique dining experience unlike any west of Asheville. The food is fabulous--the pumpkin ravioli with lion's mane mushrooms was well balanced, savory and sweet. Amazing cheese selections. The wine choices always offer a nice range of Old World and New World wines. Toni is always gracious and welcoming, taking time to chat despite the hustle of a busy Friday night. We're so glad y'all are here.
Worst customer service experience I've had in a while. I can't remember ever going into a restaurant and being told (unprompted) about all the things they couldn't/wouldn't be doing while we were there. Left before ordering because the service was so bad...
Both the hostess and the bartender went out of their way to tell us that everyone else in the restaurant was their priority (not us) and to tell us everything that they wouldn't be doing (not that we asked).
Excellent food that showed attention to detail on prep as well as food execution. I had rainbow trout from Sunburst & was pleasantly surprised at how fresh caught the taste was.
Unfortunately the IPA keg was out at an early hour so several of us opted for cocktails & wine.
Others had the duck confit & pork chops each with delicious roasted vegetables from sweet to fingerling potatoes.
Was recommended to me and my friend by Ryan from Euphoria Piercing and Tattoo around the corner. Amazing food and service! Sat at the full service bar and Greg, the bartender, was amazing as well! Definitely would come back when I'm in the area again.
